LAKE ENDINE (MOUNTAIN
COMMUNITY VALCAVALLINA– BG)
north and Po Valley in the south, is surely the most
relevant environmental peculiarity of the territory.
Thanks to its 2.34 sq. Km surface and 163.000 cu.m
volume, it is the biggest of all the natural Bergamask
basin; the flow of its effluent, river Cherio, is 1,4
cu.m per second, while its average depth is 5,1 m and
the maximum is 9,4 m.
The lake represents an important touristic resource
which, although the present conditions of the lasting
non-swimming of its waters, attracts a lot of visitors
especially during the summer months. As the engine traffic
is forbidden, in the last years the lake has been knowing
a spread of boating, canoeing and fishing, thanks to
an exploitation and promotion campaign.
Since the 60's this post-glacial lake has been showing
a marked eutrophication process, due particularly to
the anthropic impact, to which they have been looked
for remedies, through a series of interventions fostered
by the Mountain Community.
